About the Story
Hermit is the first short film by Director Adam Salasek. It covers the story of a man who is deathly afraid of human contact. He has barricaded himself inside his apartment… and is eventually faced with the ultimate question. Starvation, or Civilization?
The film was written by Adam Salasek, and was his first attempt at looking into the depths of an unstable mind. He plans on continuing his quest to understand the world – and how better to understand the world then through studying the abnormal people that live here?
About the Process
Hermit was shot over 6 days entirely in Chicago, IL. All cast and crew agreed to lend their time to the project, and it could not have been done without them. I think many of us had a great time, and many I know continue to work on films in Chicago.
Hermit has taken quite a while form concept through completion, and this primarily due to my theory that the best work cannot be rushed. By taking time off from the project every once in a while, it allows new ideas to sink in. I found myself no longer attached to certain shots, and I was really able to start experimenting with the style. Had I rushed through Hermit, and finished in within a few months like common practice, it would not be the film it is today. And what is the film today? You will have to wait and see!
